The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared - Jonas Jonasson If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be a toss-up between cute and ridiculous...

I like history, and I especially like history in fiction. This book is both, and yet it just got boring after a while. I think Allan was a boring protagonist who just went through life with no emotion at all, and although I think that's probably good for his heart and the reason he got so old, what's the point of life then? There was absolutely no passion in him (unless it was for vodka), and he kind of just happened to be at the crux of important historical events, without even caring about the effect he had on anything. He was also remarkably unaffected by things that happened to him... which if it happened to another person, that person would need some serious counselling... it was just really unbelievable and unrealistic.

Having said that, this was a fictional story, so I kept an open mind and was kind of entertained throughout, so I gave it an OK 3 stars. The timeline covered a lot of things that I haven't read much about, and it's definitely piqued my interest, so kudos for that, I guess...
